Lt. Col. To be nominated, Carlyon had to design a classroom enhancement project for the children she teaches which illustrated the educational, social and emotional benefits of her idea’s implementation, and write a synopsis illustrating her concept. As one of five national award winners, Carolyn will receive $500 for personal use, an additional $500 to implement the project in her classroom and also be submitted to receive the Helene Marks Award, the winner of which will be named the National Child Care Teacher of the Year.
