Malmstrom Air Force Base is located on the east side of Great Falls, Montana. Base gates are located at the east ends of 2nd Avenue North and 10th Avenue North. The 2nd Avenue North gate is open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday. This gate is closed on weekends and holidays. The Visitor Control Center is located next to this gate and can be contacted at (406) 731-4489 seven days a week from 0600-2200. The 10th Avenue North gate is open 24/7. Both gates are accessible from the Highway 87 bypass, alternately River Road and 57th Street, on the east side of Great Falls.

The 341st Force Support Squadron Customer Service section provides assistance with new ID cards via DEERS, Personal Agent Requests and manages both the Intro Program/Leave program policy for Malmstrom personnel. Military members must begin their in-processing by signing in with their Command Support Staff. The Command Support Staff will schedule them for the mandatory Newcomers In-processing and other mandatory unit appointments throughout the installation to include completing members travel voucher. For members that are married, the Military Spouses are welcome to attend Newcomers with the military member. All 1st duty station airmen enlisted will be scheduled to attend the First Term Airmen Center at Newcomers in-processing. What do I need to get a new ID card?
DEERS software requires eligible members to present two forms of identification in order to receive a new ID card. The primary form of identification must be a photo ID. The secondary form of identification can be anything that is federal or government-issued, such as a certified copy of your birth record, your SSN card or voter's registration card. HOW TO SCHEDULE:
Please visit the DEERS/RAPIDS appointment website at: https://idco.dmdc.osd.mil/idco/ to schedule your appointment. Once you’ve clicked on the link, access “ID Card Office Locator & Appointments”, then “Search for Site by Name or ID”, Type in “Malmstrom”, click “Select”, click “Schedule an Appointment” (at the bottom of the page). A calendar will pop up – click on the day of your preference, then scroll to the bottom of the page, where available times are listed.
REQUIRED ITEMS:
*DD Form 1172 – signed by sponsor (A DD Form 1172 is required to issue a new dependent ID card. The sponsor can accompany their dependents to the DEERS office or the sponsor can electronically sign and download the DD Form 1172 via https://www.dmdc.osd.mil/self_service/ and the dependent(s) can bring the signed copy to their appointment.)
*2 forms of photo ID (SSN card counts as a form of photo ID)
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Appointments will take precedence over walk-in customers - appointments are highly encouraged for all personnel requiring a new ID card (AD, dependents, retiree, disabled veterans).
