The arrival of an MH-139A Grey Wolf helicopter was celebrated during a ceremony here March 9, 2024.

The ceremony highlighted U.S. Air Force and nuclear enterprise modernization efforts by showcasing advancements in the technology Malmstrom Airmen use to execute their nuclear deterrence mission.

The Grey Wolf, manufactured by Boeing, is a versatile and cutting-edge aircraft designed and adapted for use by the USAF. The aircraft will play a crucial role in a variety of missions, including intercontinental ballistic missile security operations, search and rescue efforts and personnel transport.

With the new state-of-the-art capabilities brought by the Grey Wolf, Malmstrom’s mission will carry on more efficiently for decades to come, as explained by Sen. Jon Tester.

“This is the only business in the Department of Defense where we transition from legacy to new across the fabric of the triad, where we have to maintain full operational capability for our nation and the U.S. Strategic Command while we do that,” said Gen. Thomas Bussiere, Air Force Global Strike Command commander.
