The Malmstrom Web master's office will shut down the base Intranet and migrate all content to the Air Force Portal Sept. 1.

The base Intranet, currently the homepage for each government computer on base, can only be viewed when members of Team Malmstrom log on to the Malmstrom network from a government computer. The information on this page will migrate to the Air Force Portal, which can also only be viewed from a secure Department of Defense computer.

This project was first introduced in June 2006 by the Migration Plan set by Lt. Gen. Michael Peterson, Chief of Warfighting Integration and Chief Information Officer, Office of the Secretary of the Air Force.

This plan called for all bases across the Air Force to consolidate their Web servers into one main server housed at Maxwell Air Force Base, Ala., Gunter Annex. It offers continuity and uniformity of Web pages across the Air Force while saving money in maintenance fees of Web servers at different bases.

"Malmstrom is the first base in Air Force Space Command to completely migrate 100 percent of its content to the newly updated Air Force Portal," said Don Broas, content manager for AFSPC. "[And the base accomplished the migration] months ahead of the suspense set by the Secretary of the Air Force."

All of Malmstrom's current information can be found at its new location on the portal, along with new accessibility and functionality features.

To access Malmstrom's new page, visit https://www.my.af.mil and click "My Base" under the "Bases-Orgs-Functional Areas" toolbar. If Malmstrom is not set as the default base, settings can be edited under "My Profile," found in the top right corner of the Air Force Portal page.
