Senator Daines emphasizes communication, support for nuclear mission
Col. Daniel Voorhies, 341st Missile Wing commander, explains a missile field map to Montana Sen. Steve Daines August 4, 2025, during a congressional visit to Malmstrom Air Force Base, Mont. Daines visited Malmstrom to engage with wing leadership and gain a deeper understanding of the installation’s evolving role in national defense. This marked his third visit to Malmstrom and his first under the wing’s current leadership. The visit emphasized the importance of open communication between base leaders and elected officials, particularly in support of the Sentinel project. Daines encouraged leaders to share challenges and resource needs so he can advocate for solutions at the state and national level. Malmstrom continues to serve as a critical component of the nation’s nuclear deterrence mission and a key contributor to Montana’s economy and labor force. (U.S. Air Force photo by Staff Sgt.
