Senior Airman Brett Moore, 341st Civil Engineer Squadron fire department dispatcher, teaches members of the Calumet Montana Refining emergency response team how to use a thermal imaging camera during a structure fire training May 28, 2025, at Malmstrom Air Force Base, Mont. Thermal imaging cameras are an essential tool for firefighting and rescue operations. The cameras are used to detect heat signatures and convert them into visible images, allowing firefighters to see through smoke, darkness and debris.
