Little Bighorn
This “Spirit Warrior” sculpture is part of the Indian Memorial at Little Bighorn Battlefield National Memorial and represents the Native American warriors who fought for both sides June 25-26, 1876. Approximately 1,500 Sioux, Cheyenne and Arapaho warriors organized a defense of their encampment at the Little Bighorn River and defeated the U.S. Seventh Cavalry regiment. Arikara and Crow warriors served as scouts for the cavalry. (U.S. Air Force photo/John Turner)
