Burnout CFL warning

A generic, low-quality compact fluorescent lamp, or CFL, could become a fire hazard and people are encouraged to obtain high-quality, name brand CFLs for use at home and at work. The Malmstrom self-help store, Base Exchange and commissary all supply name brand CFLs and the base energy manager said the off-brand CFLs are not here on base. "If there would have been a problem with [the name brand CFLs] the company would have sent out a recall on them, so I am not concerned at this time," said Kent Seaton, 341st Civil Engineer Squadron. Base housing residents can pick up six CFLs per household per year at the self-help store located in building 220. (Courtesy photo)
