Showcasing history
Chief Master Sgt. Jerry Hanes, 341st Operations Group interim superintendent, has an extensive collection of military memorabilia ranging from before the Civil War to present. He especially enjoys collecting first sergeant insignia and this picture shows insignia from an infantry first sergeant from the Spanish-American War; a principle musician dress uniform insignia from 1884; an 1851 Dragoon (cavalry soldier) first sergeant chevron; and Civil War infantry rank first sergeant from the Union Army.
