Armed with lawn chairs and baseball gloves, more than 200 youth and family members gathered at Field Six to celebrate the opening day of the Little League Season.

Dozens of Little Warriors lined the field as the seven teams were introduced, team-by-team, into the center of the field. After the seven teams made their way to the field, the Honor Guard was there to present the colors.

To officially kick off the season, Col. Sandy Finan, 341st Space Wing commander, sporting a little league t-shirt over her BDUs was there to throw the opening pitch.

The Great Falls White Sox mascot, Boomer, also made an appearance.
Upon arriving at the field, Little Warriors recieved numbered wrist bands for a raffle to win prizes after the opening pitch.

After prizes were given away to the players, a picnic of hot-dogs, chips and cookies was served.

While this event was a fun-filled get-together for all, youth were especially excited to get out on the field and start using their skills.

"One of the best things about this event is the youth are always excited to start playing ball," said James Muscle, Youth Programs Center youth sports director.

And they did just that!

A pitch, hit and run game took place after lunch.

"We had a good turn out this year," Mr. Muscle said. "We have a good turn out of both families and players every year."

"This is a great event for families and players," said Maj. Rosalyn Walker, 341st Services Squadron commander. "It's an opportunity to have fun and the youth really enjoy it."
"Little League opening day is very special for the players to be recognized," said Mr. Muscle.

While the Youth Programs Center staff is in charge of the event, volunteer assistance from coaches, parents and players made the 49th Annual Little League opening day possible.
