Summer is right around the corner and with it comes the opportunity to dust off the motorcycle, sharpen the mower blade and break out the hiking boots.

With all the activities Air Force Global Strike Command Airmen participate in during off-duty time, it's important to remember the obligation they have to their country to practice risk management in order to make it back their duty assignment in one piece.

Malmstrom Air Force Base is the site of a Wing Safety Day May 26. This year's events include a talented speaker with the ability to capture attention. John Drebinger, certified speaking professional, will be bringing his entertaining skills in magic and comedy to the limelight in order to drive home the point of summer safety. For more than 20 years, Mr. Drebinger has earned a reputation as the authority on motivating employees to take personal responsibility for their own safety on and off the jobsite. He is recognized as a top safety speaker. Mr. Drebinger's message, "Ensure Your Safety," will be presented at 8 and 10 a.m., and again at 2 p.m. at the base theater following the Commander's all-calls. His insights will provide Malmstrom personnel with a renewed focus for off-duty safety as summer approaches.

Also available for supervisors on Wing Safety Day is a Summer Safety Brief PowerPoint presentation with a variety of topics to choose from. Everything from back-country camping and bear safety to summer weather and swimming safety, is available to present to your troops.

Confronting risks ahead of time and discussing activities beforehand are both a part of the ORM process and increase the probability of keeping summer fun and enjoyable, and preventing a trip to the emergency room.
