Military spouse life is #bettertogether

MALMSTROM AIR FORCE BASE, Mont. --  The Malmstrom Spouses' Club is bringing the concept of spouse networking in 2018 with the hashtag #bettertogether. The club strives to strengthen the ties between military spouses in energetic and positive ways through information sharing and social events that cater to a variety of interests. The club also offers interested spouses leadership experience and volunteer opportunities.

Who can join the MSC?

The club is open to spouses of all active duty, retired, guard, reserve, government service and civilians living in Great Falls. Men and women, enlisted and officer, as well as active-duty members who are married or single are always welcome too.

What type of events are offered through the MSC?

Members are invited to monthly events for a chance to meet fellow military spouses. Members are also welcome to join or form smaller “mini clubs” for special interests, such as book club, lunch bunch, playgroups, bunco, among others.

What philanthropic endeavors is the club involved in?

The MSC operates a volunteer thrift store at 77th St. and Goddard Dr. and will also host a charity auction in the spring. Proceeds are donated to local organizations that support the military community and offered as scholarships for military children and spouses.

The MSC also oversees “Cinderella’s Closet,” where formal gowns can be borrowed for the low-cost of returning items dry cleaned only (visit the Thrift Store for more information).

Are dues collected?

Dues are collected to cover operational expenses such as insurance, a post office box and supplies. Dues are waived for spouses’ of military members in the grades E-1 through E-3. All others are $25 for the year. Prospective members are invited to participate in events and mini clubs prior to joining to see if the club is a good fit for them.

Malmstrom spouses are invited to a luau themed kickoff event Sept. 20 at The Circle at 6 p.m. to learn more. Childcare will not be provided, but little ones are welcome to attend.
