BBC survey results influencing change Published April 25, 2014 By Rhonda Corkin Housing program manager MALMSTROM AIR FORCE BASE, Mont. -- Balfour Beatty Communities conducted a resident satisfaction survey last year that was completed in September 2013. The survey was administered by a third party, CEL and Associates Inc., a company that provides enterprise strategies and solutions for the real estate industry and provided BBC with comprehensive results. The survey yielded many positive replies - 75 percent of the residents surveyed rated their specific community (compared to all the communities they have previously lived in) the "best managed." Malmstrom's BBC Facility Maintenance received high marks for their service and, compared to other communities in the western group, Malmstrom BBC received the highest overall scores. The survey proved useful for identifying concerns residents have about their communities. Some concerns included the following: · Cleanliness of new homes · Landscaping, including dead trees · Contractor lawn mowing and irrigation problems · Parking issues, which topped the survey for comments · Lack of housing policy enforcement · Inconsistent playground maintenance · Weed control BBC has developed several plans to address the issues presented by the residents and some are underway already. To help address parking issues, the 341st Security Forces Group will begin issuing more tickets - residents may be limited to two vehicles - and will develop and handout a flier on rules. To help with landscaping issues, BBC will pull old stakes, replace 100 out of 800 dead trees, raise mower decks to two inches, provide irrigation in common areas, add AstroTurf, deliver fliers on yard maintenance and provide a free class on yard care. Also, a new contractor for cleaning has been hired, and additional instructions on appliance use will be developed. BCC plans to remove bark and gravel and install mats at playgrounds in the future, but in meantime, will increase sweeps. Finally, maintenance will be accomplished on gates, and resident specialists will follow policies and procedures for consistent delivery of tickets. BBC was pleased with the survey participation and hopes that residents will see improved service based on the comments provided. The next survey will occur this fall.
