Newest physician assistant returns to Team Malmstrom Published May 9, 2014 By John W. Osment 341st Medical Group MALMSTROM AIR FORCE BASE, Mont. -- Individuals who happen to schedule an appointment to see the 341st Medical Group Clinic's newest physician assistant, Jamie Barnes, and get that feeling of Déjà vu shouldn't be alarmed - they've likely seen him here before. Barnes has already served Team Malmstrom while on active duty and as a contractor in the family services and Personnel Reliability Program clinics. Barnes is a retired Air Force veteran with 25 years of active service. He has 15 years of experience in the military health care system including a year-long deployment to Afghanistan. He has worked in a variety of clinical settings and continues to find family medicine his favorite area of practice. "I look forward to the privilege of serving Malmstrom's military men and women and their families," Barnes said. "Being a retiree myself, I have a particular concern for retirees and their family members - I look forward to advocating for and providing them the best care possible as well." Barnes genuinely enjoys the work he does and approaches his work with professionalism while still maintaining a great sense of humor. He is married with two children and one grandchild. When not helping at his church or playing with his granddaughter, he is enjoying all that Montana has to offer like fly/ice fishing, hiking, rafting and snowboarding. "Montana has much to offer everyone, and I look forward to helping my patients discover how they can live healthy lives full of enjoyment," Barnes said. "Sometimes clients need a little help getting back on track or help maintaining an active lifestyle, and I hope to provide that help." It's been a long winter, so when he's not serving the Team Malmstrom family, Barnes will be anticipating some relaxing summer evenings with his wife. In the coming weeks Team Malmstrom members be able to make an appointment to see Barnes by calling the clinic's central appointment line at 731-4MED (4633) or via the toll free number at 1-866-731-4MED (4633) if out of town. Individuals can also schedule appointments or discuss routine medical care with any of the clinic's providers through MiCare. Those who haven't enrolled in MiCare can come in and see any member of the clinic's staff for assistance.
