The 341st Security Forces Squadron leads by deed this summer by taking ownership of the wing-man concept.

The squadron exemplifies high standards of conduct by supporting the Airman Against Drunk Driving mission to ensure every member of the Malmstrom AFB community gets home safely every night.

Emails do not cut it for these defenders. They reached out to the AADD initiative and volunteered off-duty time to assist in passing on critical information to the Malmstrom populace.

These volunteer Airmen strive to merit the respect of their fellow Airmen and all with whom they come in contact with, by promoting responsible drinking using information cards and key chains provided by AADD.

Cards and key chains have been handed during morning rush hours, lunch time at the Elkhorn Dining Facility and Bldg. 500. Thanks to these volunteer defenders, the base populace has AADD's phone number readily available when they need it the most.

AADD is a program for Airmen run by Airmen. Their mission is to prevent driving under the influence. It doesn't matter how much someone plans for a night out with friends, sometimes things don't go as expected and Airmen find themselves without a way to get home safe. That is when AADD steps in to help.

Normally the hours are from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., however there is always someone on call and AADD doesn't turn anyone away.

Anyone can volunteer. Although having a vehicle is recommended, it is not a requirement.

AADD has three positions: dispatcher, driver and co-driver. The calls are forwarded to the dispatcher's phone. Once the dispatchers get a phone call, they contact the drivers and set up the pick-up.

The AADD program is not the only answer to DUI prevention, however they will do anything in their power to keep Malmstrom's Airmen and local community safe and DUI-free.
