HAWC moves to base clinic in Oct. Published Sept. 22, 2014 By Airman 1st Class Joshua Smoot 341st Missile Wing Public Affairs MALMSTROM AIR FORCE BASE, Mont. -- The Health and Wellness Center at Malmstrom Air Force Base will be closing their doors and moving to the base clinic in early October. They will be redesignated as the 341st Medical Group Health and Promotion Team. "The move to the clinic allows patients to have a one-stop shop while at the clinic," said Katie Wichman, 341st Medical Operations Squadron dietitian. The HAWC will officially close Oct. 6 and the HPT will start seeing patients again Oct. 14. As part of the 341st MDG, the HPT's mission is to strengthen the combat capability of Malmstrom AFB by maximizing the human weapon system through lifestyle management that is delivered by a highly trained, well-equipped fit team. Their healthcare is delivered through a partnership with their clinical colleagues and aimed at improving quality of life. The HPT presents essential elements of a healthy lifestyle by providing health and fitness assessments, tobacco cessation opportunities, nutritional guidance and counseling including weight loss/gain and diabetes/cardiovascular management, exercise prescription, body fat percentage, resting caloric requirements and gait analysis. The only exercise equipment the HPT will be bringing to the new location will be a treadmill for gait analysis, so exercise options will not be available at the clinic location. The HPT will be made up of a dietitian and a health promotion manager. The HPT's hours of operation will remain 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. "Moving the Health Promotion Team inside the walls of the clinic provides an opportunity to fully integrate their lifestyle management techniques with the other preventive health offerings at the medical group," said 1st Lt. Patricia Kodis, 341st Medical Support Squadron group practice manager. For more information regarding the HPT services available, call 731-4292 or the clinic at 731-4MED.
