CFC offers opportunities to give back to community Published Oct. 9, 2014 By Airman 1st Class Joshua Smoot 341st Missile Wing Public Affairs MALMSTROM AIR FORCE BASE, Mont. -- Service members and civilian employees throughout Air Force Global Strike Command will be able to make a tax-deductible donation to an eligible non-profit organization of their choice during the Combined Federal Campaign beginning Oct. 14 and running through Nov. 18. The campaign raises money to support health and welfare organizations that provide health and human services to the community. "The CFC is a great opportunity to give back to our communities and help those who really need it," said Master Sgt. Edgar Ulrich, 12th Missile Squadron facility manager. "The combined efforts of our military, civilians and contractors have raised around $100,000 every year and this money goes to improve the lives of other people." Each group will have a key point of contact that will provide information and collect donations via cash, check or payroll deduction. This year the goal is to raise $100,000 with previous years bringing in more than $120,000 in donations. There is a large assortment of local, national and international organizations donors can pledge to. The POCs for each group are: 341st Maintenance Group - Tech. Sgt. Robert Jovin and Master Sgt. Andrew Zahm 341st Mission Support Group - Staff Sgt. Melissa Kellner and Master Sgt. Jesse Pellot 341st Operations Group - Master Sgt. Christopher Calloway and Tech. Sgt. Christopher Stone 341st Security Forces Group - Master Sgt. Ronrico Pace and Tech. Sgt. William Gaines 341st Medical Group - Staff Sgt. Nathaniel Bell 341st Missile Wing/Wing Staff Agency - Master Sgt. Thomas Moore 819th RED HORSE Squadron - Staff Sgt. Ernesto Roman Cruz and Staff Sgt. Alex Diaz 561st Network Operations Squadron - Staff Sgt. Joshua Small Along with the CFC, each year, volunteers from local agencies come together to participate in a day of giving back to the community. The Day of Caring assists elderly people with everyday activities such as yard work, home maintenance and other household chores. "The base is a large part of the community and a great way to show our appreciation for the support we get from the local community is to volunteer for the annual Day of Caring," Ulrich said. "We normally get about 150 of Malmstrom's finest out there and do yard work and other chores for some of our elderly and disabled neighbors." The Day of Caring will take place Oct. 24 at 8 a.m. with participants meeting at the main post office at 215 1st Avenue South. Volunteers will be able to sign up by themselves or in groups of four to five people through their group's representative.
