The Airman's Council serves as a link between the junior enlisted Airmen (E-1 through E-4) and the Wing. The Airman's Council represents the Airmen at all calls, wing stand ups and occasionally one-on-one with the command chief and wing commander.
"We bring up welfare and quality of life concerns that Airmen have so that leadership is made aware and something can be done about it," said Airman 1st Class Sean McLarnon, Airman's Council vice president.

The Airman's Council recently held elections for their executive council. The new council executives are: Airmen 1st Class Angela Smith, president; Sean McLarnon, vice president; Jazmine Brown, secretary; Vincent Pardi, treasurer; Brett Duffey, events coordinator; and Ashley Miller, assistant events coordinator.

The Airman's Council has made it a priority to help Airmen in need.

"We host morale events that help Airmen get out of their dorms and provide a safe atmosphere to 'cut loose,'" McLarnon said. "These events also help raise money for the council and fund other projects that support Airmen's welfare."
Although they will enjoy hosting morale events, the newly elected council wants to aim their focus more towards the welfare of Airmen, rather than being known solely for organizing party events.

"This is a stressful time for Malmstrom and certainly the Airmen," McLarnon said. "We want to make sure everyone bands together to support our Wingmen during this time."
The members of the council are encouraged knowing they a part of group of Airmen who look after one another.

"I'm very excited to see what we'll accomplish this year," McLarnon said. "Every new executive is highly motivated, professional and capable. It's not something I've seen from a private organization like this in a long time."

This year's council has expressed their optimism, and with the help of the Airmen on base, they are confident they'll achieve great things.

"We are all ambassadors for the Air Force," Miller said. "But as a member of the Airman's Council I feel obligated to hold that standard even higher. So far, being a part of the executive council has been a great experience. We have done a lot of planning and tossing around ideas and I can't wait to put all of our plans into motion. I'm excited to see where this year takes us."

To assist in keeping Airmen up-to-date, an Airman's Council folder is located on the 10-day share drive, which contains a copy of the council constitution, each meeting's updated minutes and event information.

The Airman's Council has a few events that they are planning for the future. One such event they intend on holding is a midnight bowling event during Memorial Day weekend.

The council is always open to ideas and feedback regarding future events. Their preferred course for feedback is at monthly meetings, which are held the last Tuesday of each month at 3:30 p.m. in the Elkhorn Dining Facility.
