Team Malmstrom participated in a 1.7 mile color run April 1 to officially kick off Wingman Month activities.

Hosted on the base flightline, Airmen, their families and civilians gathered to build comradery and physical fitness by running the course with four color stations along the way. Each color - blue, teal, yellow and red - symbolized a different Air Force value, program or theme.

The blue paint represented Child Abuse Prevention Month, the teal for Sexual Assault Awareness Month, the yellow for remembrance and the red for Comprehensive Airman Fitness.

The event allowed the base to gather and run as one; with many organizations and ranks present, from the wing commander and vice commander to junior enlisted members and families. This allowed not only the base leadership to get out with their Airmen, but for the Airmen to connect with each other and have fun with members of other organizations who may not ordinarily come together.

The kickoff event drew in a large crowd which resulted in a lot of laughs and colorful fun. The capstone of the run included a mass "color battle" which pitted all of the participants against each other, armed with cups full of the powdered paint that had been used at the stations along the run. Everyone involved walked away covered in a myriad of color splotches and newly stained clothes.
