The chaplain corps and the Airmen's Action Council have teamed up to provide Airmen with an environment for relaxation from 6 - 10 p.m. every day.

The 1st Four Airmen's Center, Building 650, formerly known as The Detour, is a place for Airmen to congregate and have a home away from home.

The AAC creates events for E-4 and below, is responsible for opening the center and makes sure the equipment is serviceable and up to date.

According to Airman 1st Class Tyrone Mack, 341st Communications Squadron visual imagery and intrusion detection systems technician and president of the AAC, the idea of the Airmen's center is a location where Airmen can go to decompress and unwind with no uniform, no stress and no worries.

"When you are so far from family, it can be a tough thing to deal with," said Mack. "Having a place where one can socialize will always make an individual feel better about themselves and their life."

The center also allows Airmen to take a breather from their dorms and have some fun with large screen TVs, video game consoles, table tennis, billiards, air hockey and a music room.

Chaplain (Capt.) Rob Mohr, 341st Missile Wing chaplain, said while it is meant to be a relaxing and fun atmosphere, it is also a place meant for growth.

"Every Tuesday is called Tactical Tuesday," said Mohr. "It's where personal growth is our mission through mentoring, peer-to-peer time, squadron dinners and seminars with the Military and Family Life Consultant."

Airman 1st Class James Landrum, 341st Medical Operations Squadron family medicine technician and vice president of the AAC, said the Airmen's center is also for Airmen from different units to share camaraderie.

"The Airmen Center is not just a haven for Airmen," he said. "It's also a place where we can all come together."

Events are also held at the Airmen's Center, including a Super Bowl party that took place Feb. 7, which had a free viewing of the football game and free food.

Two more events are currently scheduled for the month of February including a free dinner hosted by the 341st Security Forces Squadron at 6 p.m. on Feb. 16 and an interactive life improvement seminar with the MFLC on improving one's personal life at 6 p.m. on Feb 23.

Mohr said much more is to come in the future.
