Camping in Yellowstone Park offered from Mountain Home

MOUNTAIN HOME AIR FORCE BASE, Idaho --  If Yellowstone National Park is in your vacation plans during the 2007 summer season, you may want to consider a few different lodging options.

Mountain Home Air Force Base's Outdoor Recreation program has 13 trailers in place at two locations close to the park for rent. Five trailers are located at Lionshead Resort, eight miles from the west entrance to the park off Route 20 and eight trailers are located at Flagg Ranch, two miles south of the south entrance to the park on Route 191-287.

The 26-foot trailers are fully self contained and sleep six people. They include utilities such as water, sewer, gas and electricity, already connected. They also have pots and pans, dishes and other kitchen accessories. After a recent renovation, new window coverings, seat cushions, oak trim and baseboard mouldings, "the trailers are in great condition and we are ready for another great summer," according to Mark Lothrop, program director at Mountain Home Outdoor Recreation. Renters will need to bring their own bedding, towels and pillows.

Flagg Ranch is a prime location for its proximity to both Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks. The cost is $78 per night.

Lionshead Resort is close to the town of West Yellowstone, Mont., and the rates there are $70 per night. There is a two night minimum stay.

Motels in the area are well over $100 a night and do no include kitchens to save customers on restaurants costs, according to Mr. Lothrop.

Starting April 2, the Outdoor Adventure office will begin taking telephone reservations for the months of May and June. Starting May 1, reservations for July will be taken and on June 1, reservations for August and September can be made.
