Ice Breaker road race will be held April 22 Published April 26, 2007 By Great Falls Park and Recreation Office GREAT FALLS, Mont. -- The 28th Annual Ice Breaker Road Race will be held April 22. Join over 3,000 runners, joggers and fitness walkers who enter the race each year. Participants range from recreational walkers, families enjoying an outing to serious competitive runners. The five-mile road race offers a competitive format and the three-mile run offers both a competitive and recreational format. Register the entire family in the one-mile jog and fitness walk and take advantage of our special family rate. Registration is 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday at the Park and Recreation office, 1700 River Drive North. Special registration will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. APril 14 at Scheel's at Holiday Village Mall. Registration will be held April 21 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and April 22 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Civic Center Convention Center. A late fee of $2 will apply to those who register April 22. Entry fees are $12 for ages 10 and under, $18 for 11 and older, $50 for a family of four (two adults and two youth) and each additional youth in the same household is $10. Each participant will receive a 2007 Ice Breaker long sleeved t-shirt, a unique finisher medal and lunch after the race. The awards ceremony will begin at the Convention Center at 4 p.m. for the five-mile and three-mile runs. Photo Plus will be taking finish line pictures and will also be taking group photos. Look for their booth in Gibson Park on race day. Profits will be donated to the Boys and Girls Club. Race day schedule: 12:15 p.m. Stretch/aerobics to music, front steps of Civic Center 1 p.m. Five-mile run starts 1:40 p.m. Stretch/aerobics to music, front steps of Civic Center 2 p.m. Three-mile race starts 2:40 p.m. Stretch/aerobics to music, front steps of Civic Center 3 p.m. One-mile race starts 4 p.m. Awards ceremony Awards for five-mile race: First place $1,500 Second place $750 Third place $500 Masters first $200 Masters second $100 Awards for three mile race: Overall male and female winners receive a specially designed trophy and $100 cash. Overall male and female places two through 10 will receive special Ice Breaker awards. Age group male and female awards: Male and female division winners will receive a special Ice Breaker medal.
