To increase motorcycle awareness for the Malmstrom community, the 341st Space Wing Safety Office will have a booth at the Malmstrom Open House May 19 and 20 instead of holding an Operation Rolling Thunder event this year.

The booth will have three motorcycles on display in conjunction with personal protective equipment that has saved the life of a Malmstrom Warrior. There will also be brochures for some of the latest protective eyewear for riders. The safety office will be there to promote safe practices on the road for motorcyclists.

"Raising safety awareness is important because too many times we have members involved in mishaps that could have been prevented," said Staff Sgt. Matthew Maggard, safety technician. "If riders are made aware of the many dangers that are lurking around the next curve in the road, with the training they will receive, they will know how to react and not become another statistic."

Those interested in taking the free Motorcycle Safety Course can contact the Safety Office at 731-6726 or come to the safety office and sign up.

For more information, call Sergeant Maggard at 731-6720.
