Personnel security procedures change

The Air Force Central Adjudication Facility has recently changed its procedures for dealing with "problematic" security-clearance investigations. In the past, the AFCAF gave individuals two chances to provide additional information in order to resolve issues with their investigations; i.e., financial issues, criminal conduct, alcohol consumption, etc.

The first chance was a Suitability, which gave the individual 60 days to provide a response. If the response was considered inadequate by the AFCAF, the individual received a Statement of Reasons, which was the last chance for the individual to provide information that would resolve the issues and save their clearance.

The change in procedures removes the Suitability step and allows only ONE chance to provide additional information. If you are the subject of an SOR, it is very important to provide full and complete information to the AFCAF in a timely manner.

It is the responsibility of your supervisor and security manager to assist you in this process. If you are having trouble acquiring the necessary documentation, ask for their help.
