The Malmstrom Spouses' Club announced the winners of their scholarship program last night at a dinner at the Grizzly Bend Club.

Ten thousand dollars was awarded to 10 family members at Malmstrom.

"The MSC recognizes how much dependent children and spouses sacrifice as members of our military community," said Monica McCain, MSC president. "The frequent moves and separations can make military life challenging, but one thing can be constant - the support we can offer. We hope to make it a little easier for young people and our spouses to meet the challenges of higher education with some financial help."
Money is raised by the MSC all year to support the scholarship program.

"The MSC holds the annual Mercantile Auction in November and all the profit made from that auction goes into our welfare fund," Mrs. McCain said. "We also have our Thrift and Consignment Store which donates its profits to our welfare fund. Our scholarship program is definitely a community-sponsored effort."

Local establishments also contribute to making this program possible.
Applications will be accepted in February 2008 for next year's scholarship program. Applications can be picked up at high schools in Great Falls and the Airman and Family Readiness Center.

To be eligible, applicatns must be an Air Force son, daughter or spouse of an active-duty member, retired member or deceased active-duty or retired military member. The applicant must be a Cascade County high school graduating senior with a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
