Malmstrom teen A.J. Slye, son of Maj. and Mrs. David Slye, placed 3rd in the Air Force World Wide Bowling Program for his 571 series in the age 12 to 14 category (male) officials recently announced.

Youth bowlers from Air Force installations around the world were invited to participate in the 7th Annual Youth World Wide Bowling Program conducted April 6. The competition, which was held at the Aces High Bowling Center for Malmstrom's youth, was open to anyone 5 to 18 years of age who are eligible to use Services facilities.

All age groups were required to bowl three games. The highest score from the three games bowled as well as the total score of the three games added together (series) were mailed to Air Force Space Command for each competitor. There, the top three entries for High Games and High Series for each age division from each installation participating, were determined and forwarded to headquarters youth services. The Air Force top three High Games and High Series winners were selected from the highest major command scores submitted.

The objectives of the program are for youth to have fun, be introduced to a lifetime sport and test their bowling skills. For youth registered in the Air Force FitFactor Program, they also earned points towards level completion for their bowling.

The World Wide Bowling Program is only one of many Air Force Youth Programs available for family members. Call Youth Programs at 731-4634 to find out about other programs offered.
