Team Malmstrom received their much-awaited "grades" during the Air Force Space Command Inspector General's out-brief in the 3-Bay Hangar Monday. Not surprisingly, the wing "passed" the Nuclear Surety and Compliance Inspections with high marks, receiving the best ratings attainable in both inspections, which were conducted here June 10 to 22.

"It is evident that everyone here really knows how to prepare for and execute an inspection," said Col. Daniel Adams, AFSPC IG. "These have been the best NSI findings in more than four years."

According to the inspection report, "the 341st Space Wing 'Grizzlies' demonstrated superior ability to safely, reliably and securely manage the wing's assets ... The leadership's emphasis on core war-fighting competencies showed in the impressive performance by the Airmen of the 341st Space Wing."

Colonel Adams was quick to personally highlight several organizations for their performances in his closing remarks to Team Malmstrom.

"The helicopter squadron - superb; ICBM crews blew away the scripts we prepared for them; maintenance group - top notch; medical group - your PRP [personnel readiness program] is second to none," the top inspector said.

He also praised the support personnel - especially lodging; the security forces group for exuding confidence in security roles at 75 of the 400 posts inspected; and he congratulated the personnel of the 564th Missile Squadron for "remaining on top of their game and doing so well" despite the possible deactivation they are facing.

"We train the way we intend to fight. We do the right thing every day and we showed the inspectors that," said Col. Sandy Finan, 341st SW commander. "You conquered all the tasks at hand and you did it with style."

A combined 36 professional teams and 17 professional performers were identified during the NSI.

"The NSI is the most thorough inspection in the Department of Defense ... and you aced it," said Maj. Gen. Thomas Deppe, 20th Air Force commander. "For that, I congratulate every one of you."

The CI includes a review of six common core compliance requirements, 19 mission areas subdivided into more than 170 sub-areas and six special interest items, according to the inspection report.

"This assessment revealed superb leadership and strong oversight by program managers," Colonel Adams reported. "Throughout the program reviews, the IG team noted empowered Airmen seizing the initiative to develop effective, and sometimes innovative, tools to help them track myriad requirements and implement solutions to address directives."

This inspection resulted in acknowledging 25 professional teams and 22 professional performers.

"You are absolutely incredible," Colonel Finan said. "You've made it clear to the world that you are the most powerful wing in the Air Force - and I will tell you I think you're the best wing in the Air Force."
