E-mail for life institiuted
The Air Force has instituted a program to give every member a unique e-mail address which does not change as you move assignments. The E4L project's main objective is to provide that capability in the form of @us.af.mil e-mail addresses for all Air Force users.
Once a user is assigned an e-mail address with the @us.af.mil address, the user will have this address during their entire career with the Air Force. An automated e-mail will be sent to you stating your unique Air Force level e-mail address.
The change for the most part will be transparent to people who use the Global Address List since their name, rank and unit designations will still show. They will not be required to take any action or change any settings. This address will automatically forward mail to the existing account.
Also, the E4L address will not show up on the GAL until mid-summer when the initiative reaches full operating capability.
By now you should have received a test email message from the USAF Chief of Staff mass e-mail distribution system. The e-mail is just a test message and no further action is required.
For more information, visit https://imp. afds.af.mil/e4ls and read the FAQ for answers to most of your questions.
