MALMSTROM AIR BASE, Mont. --
Malmstrom Air Force Base will celebrate the 60th Anniversary of the United States Air Force and the 25th Anniversary of Air Force Space Command by hosting a formal ball Sept. 15. The theme is "Heritage to Horizons," and the planners have come up with a unique way to decorate the 3 Bay Hangar for the event.
"The idea we have for the layout and decoration of the ball location is to have one half decorated in the very early Air Force colors of tan and green and the other half decorated with the present day silver and blue," said 1st Lt. Jessica Holmes, 490th Missile Squadron. "The side decorated in early Air Force will have a display set up by the museum, but we needed something for the modern day and future side."
The planners got together and decided to get Malmstrom's Little Warriors involved, too.
"We decided to let the future of the Air Force and of our country give us an idea of what they think the Air Force will look like or be involved in," Lieutenant Holmes said. "So we decided to hold an art contest. We would like to keep the rules basic - as to let the youth have more freedom."
