Community notes - week of July 10 Published Aug. 7, 2007 MALMSTROM AIR FORCE BASE, Mont. -- Enlisted call Chief Master Sgt. Steve Sargent, 341st Space Wing command chief, hosts a mandatory enlisted call at the Grizzly Bend Club. Attendance is mandatory and a sign up sheet will be recorded. Enlisted members are only required to attend one of the two noted time blocks for their rank. The dates and times for the enlisted call is as follows: · Aug. 28 at 10 a.m. and Sept. 4 at 9 a.m. for all airmen basic to senior airmen; · Aug. 29 and Sept. 10 at 3:30 p.m. for all senior noncommissioned officers; and · Aug. 30 and Sept. 6 at 10 a.m. for all staff and technical sergeants. Be Our Guest The Youth Programs Center hosts the "Be Our Guest" program from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 17. The program is designed to help children deal with the stresses of having a deployed parent. Operation BOG offers a day of activities, barbecue and prize giveaways. Stations will be set up for Little Warriors such as immunizations, finance and dog gag stations, tailored to children with activities to go along. Young people are encouraged to show up in uniform, such as BDUs. The YPC will have uniforms available to try on if the Little Warrior doesn't have one. The Grizzly Bend Club also hosts a BOG night Sept. 8. Hot dogs, hamburgers, French fries, cake and soda will be available. Games and prizes will be available along with washable tattoos and a craft area to make cards for the deployed parent. For more information, call the YPC at 731-4634. Spouses' club to hold ice cream social The Malmstrom Spouses' Club free ice cream social takes place at 6 p.m. Aug. 23 at the Grizzly Bend Club. Members can sign up for activities for the upcoming 2007 to 2008 year. New members are welcome. The MSC is open to spouses of all ranks. Call Helen Schollars to RSVP at 866-0245 by Aug. 15. Register for City League softball Registration for the 2007 Fall Softball Leagues began Aug. 6 and will continue through Aug. 17 or until league limits are reached. The first 16 teams in the men's, women's and co-ed divisions will be taken on a first-come, first serve basis. Team managers can register at the Park and Recreation office from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Friday. The registration fee is $250 and league play kicks off Aug. 27. All restricted area badges, civilian identification and Geneva Convention cards are done by appointment only. Classes are still available in September for people interested in getting required certification to operate a motorcycle on Malmstrom. Water timers available at self-help As a reminder, using a water timer on your hoses can help save 5 to 10 percent of residential water consumption. Extreme heat calls for constant watering Due to extreme heat the Park and Recreation Department will be watering parks 24 hours a day to keep up with the dry conditions we have been experiencing.
