Ice, rain and snow are three very common things in a Montana winter and many cars need special attention in order to perform properly and ensure the maximum protection for the operator in times of extreme weather conditions.

Whether going hunting in the mountains or heading to a snowboarding trip, most vehicles need to be winterized to be able to handle the harsh roads.

Therefore, 341st Logistics Readiness Squadron vehicle maintenance personnel, who are trained mechanics, are hosting a free vehicle inspection to ensure safety and readiness of vehicles for the winter months, said Staff Sgt. Oscar Saenz, 341st LRS.

Vehicle inspections will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. during the weekends of Oct. 20 and 21, as well as Oct. 27 and 28 at building 870, 7823 Goddard Drive.

"Inspections are open to wing personnel and their families. We are doing them before the winter hits so any problems we find can be brought to their attention so they can make any necessary repairs to ensure their safety through the winter," Sergeant Saenz said. "Vehicles are inspected bumper to bumper. We check to make sure lights are functioning properly, tire pressure and tread, engine belts, engine oil levels and transmission fluid levels, any leaks on the vehicle, engine coolant level and so on. Keeping your personal vehicle in top shape before winter hits will ensure your safety on the road."

There are no restrictions on types of vehicles for this inspection.
