More than 100 people attended the 341st Services Squadron's free Ski and Dessert Expo at the Grizzly Bend Club Oct. 25.

State-wide ski resort representatives were on hand to talk about downhill and cross-country ski trails, lodging and equipment. There was also a wide-variety of desserts to sample and wines to taste, as well as raffle giveaways throughout the evening.

"This is the sixth year we've done this event and it gets bigger every year," said Staci Corder, 341st SVS marketing director and event organizer. "This year we have 17 vendors and it's great to see so many people out enjoying themselves. The whole purpose of this event is to educate people and entice them with all the things they can do in the wintertime."

Lt. Col. Martha Johnston, 341st Medical Operations Squadron commander, said she just moved to Malmstrom and wanted to see what the community has to offer.

"I'm new to the area and also a skier, so it's interesting to see what's available throughout the state and check out information on ski passes, lodging and fees," the lieutenant colonel said. "It's all been very valuable information."

Not everyone attended the expo to check out ski resorts and outdoor winter activities. Master Sgt. Robert Myers, 341st Maintenance Operations Squadron, was sampling the desserts and mingling with other event guests.

"I'm helping plan the maintenance group's holiday party and wanted to check out the prices of desserts," the power refrigeration electrical section NCOIC said. "We're getting a jump start on the planning process."

The event culminated with a grand prize giveaway for a two-night stay at a prestigious lodge and resort in Glacier National Park.

"Montana has so much to offer, especially during the winter season," Ms. Corder said. "People need to get out and enjoy the beautiful scenery."
