Giving the gift of education
Maj. Gen. Richard Tryon, Commanding General of Marine Corps Recruiting Command, presents U.S. Treasury Bonds to Danielle Balmer and her son, Anthony, 8, at Malmstrom Air Force Base, Mont., Dec. 13. A $20,000 bond was given to each of her three children to help fund their college education through a charity whose mission is to encourage the development of children through education. Ms. Balmer is the widow of Special Agent Ryan Balmer who was killed in action while serving in Iraq earlier this year. SA Balmer’s home station was Air Force Office of Special Investigation Detachment 113 at Hill Air Force Base, Utah. He was previously stationed at Malmstrom before his selection into the AFOSI. General Tryon was representing the Marine Corps Law Enforcement Foundation who sponsors the bonds for this purpose. (U.S. Air Force photo/Christy Mason).
