Another MSET aced by Team Malmstrom Published March 3, 2008 By 2nd Lt. Korry Leverett 341st Space Wing Public Affairs Office MALMSTROM AIR FORCE BASE, Mont. -- Team Malmstrom once again successfully completed its annual Missile Standardization, Evaluation and Training Assessment (MSET), and Helicopter Maintenance Standardization and Evaluation Program (MSEP) March 3 with an impressive EXCELLENT rating on the MSET and OUTSTANDING on the MSEP. The purpose of the MSET is to provide the 20th Air Force commander with an assessment of a unit's standardization, evaluation and training processes and programs, technical proficiency, and support. In addition, the MSEP certifies a unit's ability to maintain and support UH-1N Huey helicopters. "The MSET is an in-depth look at nuclear technical responsibilities and capabilities," said Jerry Kain, 341st Space Wing chief of plans and programs. "Essentially, it's a combat capability assessment." The MSET team rates the training and evaluation programs on a 5-teir scale ranging from outstanding to unsatisfactory. The wing is also assessed in four functional areas, which are evaluation, training and technical proficiency, and support. The wing received "Excellent" ratings across the board. "Today, we passed a rigorous MSET ... this wing earned an 'Excellent'... that is a great rating." said Col. Sandy Finan, 341st Space Wing commander. "Everybody should be very happy!" Recognized by the MSET/MSEP evaluators were 49 professional performers and 27 professional teams. "Today we showed the world, once again, that we are experts at our job. We know how to do it very, very well." said Col. Finan. "We won, everybody should be excited ... it was a great inspection!"
