Malmstrom staff and technical sergeants here have an opportunity to join the 5/6 Alliance with extra incentives as part of a membership drive that begins next week.

Free food, gifts and prizes will be available at the monthly meeting Thursday at 3 p.m. in the basement lounge of the Grizzly Bend Club.

"Our professional organization serves as a liaison between senior leadership and the mid-level NCO tier," said Tech. Sgt. Donnie Parish, 5/6 Alliance vice-president. "We also promote spirit-de-corps around base, provide a ready cadre of mid-level NCOs for base and community activities, and serve in a variety of mentoring roles to Airmen equal to and junior in rank."

Sergeant Parish explained how the 5/6 Alliance was strategically formed a few years ago.

"As an Air Force E-5 or E-6, we are caught in the middle," he said. "The E-7s through E-9s have the Top 3 and the E-1s through E-4s have the Airman's Council. E-5s and E-6s on base needed a voice and wanted a forum that gave them an opportunity to network, develop professionally and become active participants in the base and local community.

"The 5/6 Alliance is fulfilling that role," Sergeant Parish continued, "and we're making a difference."
