Schedule of events for retirees weekend outlined

The following events and activities are being offered as indicated below. 

Friday: 4 p.m. - Formal retreat ceremony at Medal of Honor Park (inclement weather site is the 3-Bay Hangar). Retirees should be in uniform if wanting to participate in the ceremony. 

Friday: Following Retreat - Social hour at the Grizzly Bend Club for retirees and their family members. 

Saturday: 7 a.m. - Malmstrom Clinic opens until 11 a.m. offering the following services: 
- Blood pressure screenings 
- Hearing tests 
- Pharmacy services 
- Laboratory services (cholesterol and glucose screenings) 
- Immunizations (tetanus and flu shots - please bring your immunization records) 
- Dental exams, oral cancer screenings and X-rays if necessary (first-come, first-served basis) 
- Vision testing and glaucoma screenings 
- Mammogram referrals 

Free refreshments will be available throughout the clinic as well as informational brochures on various health-care issues such as smoking cessation, aging, injury prevention, nutrition and TRICARE. 

Saturday: 7 a.m. - Military Personnel Flight opens for ID card renewals through 2 p.m. 

Saturday: 7 a.m. - Commissary opens. Beginning at 9 a.m., complimentary refreshments will be offered. The store will feature food demonstrations and prize give-aways throughout the day. 

Saturday: 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. -Brunch is served at the Elkhorn Diner (33 percent surcharge applies) 

Saturday: 9 a.m. - Base Exchange opens. Refreshments will be offered at the main entrance. 

Saturday: 10:30 a.m. - Brunch at the Grizzly Bend Club (reservations required) 

Saturday: Afternoon - Tours of the base and of a missile procedures trainer will be offered. 

Saturday: 1 p.m. - "Programs for Retirees" briefing with guest speakers from various agencies such as casualty assistance, legal, Social Security and Veterans Affairs to address issues and answer questions. Held at the chapel annex. 

Saturday: 5:30 p.m. - Retiree Appreciation Dinner, Grizzly Bend Club featuring guest speaker retired Maj. Gen. Richard Marr, Vice President, Center for Innovation, Lockheed Martin. Entertainment will be provided by the Top of the Falls chorus. Reservations are required. 

Sunday: 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. - Brunch is served at the Elkhorn Diner (33 percent surcharge applies) 

Sunday: 9 a.m. - Base exchange opens 

Sunday: 9:30 a.m. - Catholic Services, base chapel 

Sunday: 10 a.m. - Commissary opens 

Sunday: 11:15 a.m. - Protestant Worship Services, base chapel 

Don't forget to bring along your old, unwanted cell phones and donate them to the Cell Phones for Soldiers program, currently being spearheaded by members of the Retirees Activities Council at Malmstrom. Drop boxes are located at the Base Exchange in front of the cash registers, in the main entrance area at the Commissary and in the main lobby of the clinic. 

Anyone interested in joining the Retirees Activities Council is invited to attend a monthly meeting, held every second Wednesday of the month at 11:30 a.m. at the Grizzly Bend Club. Or you can call current direct, retired Col. Milt Felth at 731-4751. Please leave a message if no one answers.
