Gate closure announced
The Second Avenue North Gate will be closed starting at 6 a.m. May 8 through 6 a.m. May 11. Liberty Electric, the contractor performing security work in the vicinity of the gate, has requested a three day closure due to limited space and safety concerns with traffic. The contractor will be using a concrete saw to cut and remove the existing concrete, augur holes and set new bollards in concrete. May 8 and 9 only, the Liberty Gate near the Credit Union will be open from 6:30 to 8 a.m. for inbound only and from 4 to 5 p.m. for outbound only. Questions should be directed to the 341st Civil Engineer Squadron at 731-6900.

Thrift Store open Saturday
Whether you're spring cleaning or getting ready to PCS, don't forget the Malmstrom Thrift and Consignment Store to donate unwanted items or consign items for sale. The store is open Tuesday and Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and the first Saturday of each month from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Consignments are accepted until 1 p.m. during business hours and donations are accepted at any time the store is open.

Volunteers needed for Special Olympics

Malmstrom's commissary to hold case lot sale May 15 to 17
Malmstrom will be holding the bi-annual case lot sale 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. May 15, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. May 16 and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 17 at the commissary. This event offers shoppers an opportunity to buy bulk quantities of products at lower prices such as canned goods, beverages, paper products, pet supplies, cleaning or laundry products and, in some cases, fresh chicken, pork, beef and produce.

Retirees, Airmen welcome to attend AFSA meeting
The Air Force Sergeant's Association, Chapter 1156, would like to invite all Airmen and retirees to their next membership meeting, May 21 at 6 p.m. in the Glacier Room at the Grizzly Bend Club.
For the retiree, this is an opportunity to learn more about your retirement benefits, stay involved in military activities and learn about protecting quality-of-life initiatives.

Best ball golf tournament scheduled
The 341st Missile Security Forces Squadron booster club is hosting a best ball golf tournament starting at 9 a.m. May 30 at the Zahara Valley Golf Course. Four-person teams need to register by May 15 to Tech. Sgt. Steve Redmond at 731-7613 or via e-mail to steven.redmond@malmstrom.af.mil. The cost is $50 per person which includes18 holes of golf and cart rental. Teams will be eligible for many prizes including a new Clevelan HiBORE XLS driver. Bundles for babies class answers questions
Expecting a baby? No other event in life is as rewarding, yet overwhelming. What will you name your new bundle of joy? What will the baby look like? What should you expect during delivery? What type of day care should you choose? How many diapers will you need during the first month? How much does raising a child actually cost? Attend the "Bundles for Babies" class offered by the Airman and Family Readiness Center and get answers to these questions and more. Mother's Day event at the Ursuline Center
Organizers at the Ursuline Center are offering a Mother's Day brunch and historic tour of the facility from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 11. The cost is $16 for adults; $12 for seniors; $8 for children ages 6 to 12; and children under 6 are free. For more information, call 452-8585.

Online bowhunter education available
Fish, Wildlife and Parks is now offering bowhunter education online. Although the course is online, students must still take a field test to receive their bowhunter education card. Several field days are set throughout the state for online students. Only students 18 years old and older may take the online course, which costs $20.
In the Great Falls area, prospective online students must also attend a two-hour class before attending a field day, either May 10 or July 19.
The two hour classes are offered: May 8 and 9 from 1 to 3 p.m. and May 9 from 5 to 7 p.m.
