Community notes - week ending July 4 Published July 2, 2008 MALMSTROM AIR FORCE BASE, Mont. -- North gate to close July 12 to 14 Continuing work on the north gate will force its closure from 8 a.m. July 12 to 3 p.m. July 14 to install a new security gate. The closure is necessary to ensure the safety of the contractors. Question should be directed to 731-6148. Briefings scheduled July 15 The Air Force Right/Informed Decision briefing is held every third Tuesday of the month from 8 a.m. to noon in the Education Office. The briefing is intended for all first and second term Airmen with in 15 months of separation. The briefings covers Air Force benefits along with options on what is available to Airmen. AFSA general membership meeting is July 16 The Air Force Sergeants Association holds a general membership meeting at the Grizzly Bend Club every third Wednesday of the month. College representative to meet prospective students An Empire State College, State University of New York, representative will be available to meet with prospective students on July 16 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Education and Training Center, building 1240. ESC is an Air University - Associate to Baccalaureate Cooperative program partner and offers individually-tailored bachelor degrees entirely online. Sample programs include: Criminal Justice; Fire Service Administration; Business Management; Homeland Security; Emergency Management; Information Systems; Health Care Administration and many more. CPR instructor course being offered For dedicated individuals only! · Course date: Sept. 19, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.. · Course limited to 8 people. · Course Requirements: - Must have an Instructor Manual ($45). - Must teach a minimum of 4 classes in two years, including one per year at the HAWC. - Must complete the Core Course ($20) - Must be monitored teaching within 90 days. - Must submit a letter of recommendation based on teaching skills. - Must be currently AHA CPR Certified. - Must not be PCSing within six months of class completion. Golf tournament to offset cost of Air Force ball The Air Force Ball Association is hosting a golf tournament July 25 starting at 9 a.m. at the Zahara Golf Course. Cost is $50 per person/$200 per team which includes 18 holes of golf and an automatic entry to win a Nike driver valued at $300. A first place trophy will be presented and additional raffle tickets for the driver will be sold the day of the tournament. Water quality report available on the Web The 2007 Water Quality Report released by the City of Great Falls is available for review on the Malmstrom external Web page at www.malmstrom.af.mil. Volunteers needed to help with relocation The Great Falls Genealogy Library, a non-profit organization open to the public, will be moving from its current location, 422 2nd St. S. to the Great Falls Public Library at 301 2nd Ave. N., July 11 and 12. Five to six volunteers are needed to help move boxes of books, arrange furniture in the new location and unpack and stack books. A lot of lifting will be involved.
