Community Notes Week of July 11 Published July 10, 2008 MALMSTROM AIR FORCE BASE, Mont. -- North gate to close July 12 to 14 Continuing work on the north gate will force its closure from 8 a.m. July 12 to 3 p.m. July 14 to install a new security gate. The closure is necessary to ensure the safety of the contractors. Question should be directed to 731-6148. Big Sky Riders to host rodeo The Big Sky Riders Club will hold a rodeo July 12 starting at 10 a.m. at the stables on base. Events include barrel racing, flag ple racing and other events. Briefings scheduled July 15 The Air Force Right/Informed Decision briefing is held every third Tuesday of the month from 8 a.m. to noon in the Education Office. The briefing is intended for all first and second term Airmen with in 15 months of separation. The briefings covers Air Force benefits along with options on what is available to Airmen. Deadline nearing for tickets to Combat Dining Out The 341st Security Forces Group Combat Dining Out is July 17 starting at 5:30 p.m. in the 3 Bay Hangar. Tickets cost $14 per person and must be purchased by July 16. Free child care will be provided with advanced registration. Call Susan Ritter at 731-2147 for child care reservations. Dinner starts at 6:30 p.m. and the menu includes tri-trip steak, beans, garlic toast, potato salad, and assorted beverages. Brig. Gen. Mary Kay Hertog is the guest speaker. AFSA general membership meeting is July 16 Retirees, Airmen welcome to attend AFSA meeting The Air Force Sergeant's Association, Chapter 1156, would like to invite all Airmen and retirees to their next membership meeting, July 23 at 6 p.m. in the Glacier Room at the Grizzly Bend Club. The meeting is a good way to familiarize yourself with the new G.I. Bill changes recently signed by the President. For the retiree, this is an opportunity to learn more about your retirement benefits, stay involved in military activities and learn about protecting quality-of-life initiatives. Golf tournament to offset cost of Air Force ball The Air Force Ball Association is hosting a golf tournament July 25 starting at 9 a.m. at the Zahara Golf Course. Cost is $50 per person/$200 per team which includes 18 holes of golf and an automatic entry to win a Nike driver valued at $300. A first place trophy will be presented and additional raffle tickets for the driver will be sold the day of the tournament.
