Volunteers needed for Operation Thanksgiving
Volunteers are needed to help make this year's Operation Thanksgiving a success for the Great Falls Meals on Wheels program. People are needed from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 26 to help debone turkeys and with other pre-holiday meal preparation. People are also needed in several areas Nov. 27 as listed below:
Cooking crews - 7:30 to 11 a.m.
Meal assembly crews - 8:30 to 11 a.m.
Meal delivery drivers - 9:45 a.m. to noon
Clean-up crew - 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Commissary Hours for Thanksgiving
The commissary will be open Nov. 24 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and closed Nov. 27 and 28 in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday.

American Red Cross to hold Blood Drive
The next American Red Cross blood drive is Nov. 24 from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the lower gym of the Sports and Fitness Center. Call 727-2212 for an appointment or sign up online at www.givelife.org, sponsor code airforce.

Promotion ceremony to be held Nov. 25
A base promotion ceremony will be held at 3 p.m. Nov. 25, in the base auditorium.

Thrift Store hours outlined
The Thrift and Consignment Store will be closed Nov. 25-28 due to the Thanksgiving holiday. The store, which is located in Bldg. 581 on Goddard Drive, will reopen Tuesday, Dec. 2, and resume regular hours. The store's hours are 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Tuesdays and Fridays as well as the first Saturday of the month. The store will be open Saturday, Dec. 6. The store currently is accepting winter and Christmas items for consignment. Consignments are accepted until 1 p.m. on days the store is open. Donations are always welcome; all profits go toward Malmstrom Spouses Club scholarships and other welfare projects. For more information, call 731-3213.

November is Warrior Care Month
Warrior Care Month increases awareness of programs and resources available to wounded, ill and injured service members, their families and those who care about them. WCM also reinforces service members' trust in DoD's commitment to their well-being. Volunteers needed for Operation Happy Holidays
Anyone interested in helping with baking and packaging cookies that will be shipped to deployed members for the holidays can call Dimmer Kjelsrud at 761-8300, ext. 196 to sign up. Volunteers are needed Dec. 1 to 4 from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the VFW Post located on 10th Avenue South.

Base to hold tree-lighting ceremony
The annual base tree-lighting ceremony, cookie and card contests will be held at 5 p.m. Dec. 5, at the Grizzly Bend Club. Entry forms for the cookie contest are due by noon Nov 26. Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. Entries to the card contest are due by Nov. 29. Cash prizes go to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. For more information, go to 341fss.com.

Ski season specials at Outdoor Recreation
Discounted lift tickets for Showdown Ski Area are once again available to military members and their families. A military appreciation weekend at Big Sky Resort is scheduled Dec. 12 to 14. Call Outdoor Recreation at 731-3263 for more information on both.

New on-line survey required prior to PHA
Military personnel are now required to complete an on-line survey prior to their annual preventive health assessment appointment. The survey is located on the Air Force Portal.
1. Click the "Life/Career" tab
2. Select "Health"
3. Look for AF Web-Based Health Assessment
To make a PHA appointment, call 731-4633. Servicemembers on PRP must go through their unit deployment manager and unit schedulers.

AFAS offers education grant
The Air Force Aid Society is offering a $2,000 college education grant to qualifying Air Force family members through the Gen. Henry H. Arnold Education Grant Program. All military spouses who applied at Malmstrom last year received a grant. For more information, go to www.afas.org.

Fishing season ends Nov. 30
General fishing season on most of Montana's smaller rivers and streams in western and central fishing districts closes Nov. 30. Fishing will remain open in the eastern district and statewide for lakes and reservoirs. Emergency regulations are sometimes in effect to protect a fishery.
