Base Supply Store celebrating 10 years at Malmstrom Published Nov. 19, 2008 By Senior Airman Emerald Ralston 341st Missile Wing Public Affairs Office MALMSTROM AIR FORCE BASE, Mont. -- The base supply store will celebrate its 10th anniversary with an open house Nov. 24 from 1 to 3 p.m. to thank the Malmstrom community for supporting the store. The open house will include a presentation to Col. Michael Fortney, 341st Missile Wing commander, brief comments from the Industries for the Blind Inc., a lunch sponsored by Big Mouth Barbecue and cake. "We're holding this event to express our thanks to Malmstrom for 10 years of support," said Dale Perchert, base supply store manager. "We want to let Malmstrom know whatever they need, we can provide - from a pen or pencil to furnishing a whole squadron. We look forward to serving another 10 years and know that without our customers and continued support, the Ability One Program and our relationship with the base would not exist. We truly appreciate the support we've been given." The supply store works with the Ability One Program, which is a program that provides employment opportunities for deaf, blind or severely disabled Americans. One of the four employees at the supply store is deaf. "In the past we have helped many students from the Deaf and Blind School make their transition from school to the real world by employing them at the store and preparing them with an opportunity they would not receive anywhere else," Mr. Perchert said. "As a retired Air Force person, I enjoy the opportunity to continue serving the military. I am proud of the amount of support we provide the base and to all individuals who come our way." While only Government Purchase Cardholders and base contractors are authorized to shop at the store, all members of Team Malmstrom are welcome to attend the open house.
