Former Airman sentenced to prison for possession of child pornography Published Feb. 20, 2009 By 341st Missile Wing Staff Judge Advocate's Office staff MALMSTROM AIR FORCE BASE, Mont. -- Former Airman 1st Class Brian Trinidad of the 341st Missile Maintenance Squadron was sentenced Jan. 14 to more than six years in federal prison for possession of child pornography. He had plead guilty to possession of child pornography Oct. 1, 2008, following the discovery of more than 600 images on his computer. In 2007, the Air Force Office of Special Investigations together with U.S. Immigration and Customs agents, investigated an IP address at Malmstrom Air Force Base. The Wyoming Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force had determined a computer utilizing the IP address was offering child pornography images via a peer-to-peer network. Following an investigation of computers associated with the IP address, it was determined that former Airman Trinidad was using his neighbor's wireless connection to access the Internet. Former Airman Trinidad's computer was searched and more than 600 images were found including images of children under age 12 participating in sexually explicit conduct. The maximum penalty former Airman Trinidad faced was 10 years in prison and $250,000 in fines. Ultimately, he received 78 months in prison with five years of supervised released following his prison tenure along with the loss of his computer equipment. He had been discharged from the Air Force prior to his sentencing.
