Hip Hop nights return
A pre-deployment "jam" at the Grizzly Bend Club, featuring music by "the Professa," is tonight starting at 8:30 p.m. in honor of the 819th RED HORSE Squadron members who are set to depart Malmstrom March 2. Saturday, Feb. 28, "the Professa" returns to spin the tunes from 10 p.m. until 2 a.m. Card games, dance contests and prizes will also be featured. Plastic recycling will not end
Due to a breakdown in communication, it was reported that plastic will no longer be accepted at the recycle center at Malmstrom. Recycling of #1 and #2 plastics only will continue. Questions or concerns should be directed to Frank Carpenter at 731-6448.

Gate closure announced
The 2nd Avenue North gate will be closed to all traffic Saturday, Feb. 28 from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. due to construction. The 10th Avenue North gate will be open for all traffic during this time. All visitors still need to process through the Visitor Control Center for passes, which will maintain normal operations. The 2nd Avenue North gate will re-open for normal operations at 6 p.m. Feb. 28 at which time, the 10th Avenue North gate will close.

Easter concert practices to start March 3
The Malmstrom Chapel Easter Concert practices will start March 3 at 7 p.m. at the chapel. The Easter Concert will take place April 14 at 7 p.m. Anyone interested in singing should come the chapel Feb. 24 at 7 p.m. for a preview of the music. Refreshments will be provided. Change of command announced
There will be a change of command ceremony March 6 at 9:30 a.m. in the 3-Bay Hanger where 341st Maintenance Group Commander Col. Deborah Kirkhuff will relinquish command to Col. Jeffrey E. Frankhouser. A reception will immediately follow. Please RSVP to Beverly Lee by March 3 at beverly.lee@malmstrom.af.mil.

Extreme recipe challenge offered at HAWC
The Health and Wellness Center is offering an "Eating Well Extreme Recipe Challenge." Those interested in participating should select a healthy meal recipe that can be prepared in 30 minutes or less. Type the name, description, ingredient list and directs to the recipe and be sure to include your name, a good contact number and e-mail address. Drop off your recipe by 4 p.m. March 6 at the HAWC. The "sampling challenge" will be March 20 at 11 a.m. Those who enter recipes should be prepared to bring a sample of their dish to the HAWC for judging. Prizes will be awarded to first, second and third place. Everyone who enters will receive a cookbook with all the recipe entries. For more information, call the HAWC at 731-4292.

Thrift Store accepting large items
The Thrift and Consignment Store currently has space for large household items, such as dressers, dining room sets and desks. If you would like to consign or donate items to the store, visit during business hours Tuesdays and Fridays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. All items must be gently used and free of tears, stains or other damage. The store is located in building 581 on Goddard Ave. For more information, call the store at 731-3213. 

Many roads in housing closed
In order to accommodate construction project to replace family housing, phase 7-C, several roads have been closed and will remain closed through June 2011. Remaining residents in the construction areas are reminded that these areas are off limits. Children should not be permitted to play in or around construction areas. The following are the road closures:
-- Gumwood east of Maple Street and west of Dogwood Street
-- Ironwood east of Maple Street and west of Dogwood Street
-- Joshua east of Maple Street and west of Dogwood Street
-- Dogwood Street south of Locust Street and north of Ironwood Street
-- Dogwood Street from Ironwood to Gumwood will be a one lane access road
-- Hickory will remain open until June 5

Women's Bible study offered
