Extreme recipe challenge offered at HAWC

The Health and Wellness Center is offering an "Eating Well Extreme Recipe Challenge." Those interested in participating should select a healthy meal recipe that can be prepared in 30 minutes or less. Type the name, description, ingredient list and directs to the recipe and be sure to include your name, a good contact number and e-mail address. Drop off your recipe by 4 p.m. today, March 6 at the HAWC. The "sampling challenge" will be March 20 at 11 a.m. Those who enter recipes should be prepared to bring a sample of their dish to the HAWC for judging. Prizes will be awarded to first, second and third place. Everyone who enters will receive a cookbook with all the recipe entries. For more information, call the HAWC at 731-4292.

Combat Arms closed for training
Combat Arms will be closed March 10-11 for instructor training and certification. No other training will be conducted during this time. Questions should be addressed to Les Christensen at 731-6422.

Medical group offering patient safety events
The 341st Medical Group will observe Patient Safety Awareness Week with three events March 8 to 14.
· Brown Bag medication review, March 8 from 9 to 10 a.m. Bring in all medications, to include over-the-counter ones, for counseling and education.

· Who is my primary care manager? March 10, during duty hours, 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 pm... Fill out a short form that will be located in the pharmacy lobby and medical staff will send you the name and contact information for your PCM and their team.

· Your Voice. March 14, during duty hours, 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.. Let us know your safety needs and concerns at a table set up in the pharmacy lobby.

AFSA monthly meeting announced
The Air Force Sergeants Association Chapter 1156 meeting takes place March 18 at 3:30 p.m. in the Grizzly Bend Club meeting room. Discussion includes planning upcoming events, fundraisers, community projects and legislative issues. Being in AFSA is an enlisted person's opportunity to learn more about retirement benefits, being involved in military activities and learning about protecting Air Force quality-of-life initiatives. Scouting for food drive planned
Cub Scout Pack 43 and Boy Scout Troop 43 will be participating in the annual Scouting for Food drive March 14 and 21. The Scouts will be in the housing areas March 14 from 9 a.m. to noon to distribute collection bags and information. They will return March 21 from 9 a.m. to noon to pick up non-perishable food donations left in site on the resident's doorstep before 9 a.m. All donations will be given to the Great Falls Food Bank. 5/6 Alliance meeting, membership challenge
All E-5 and E-6 members are encouraged and invited to attend the next 5/6 Alliance meeting March 20 at 3 p.m. at the Grizzly Bend Club meeting room. The new president is challenging each member to bring as many NCO friends to the meeting, and as an incentive, is offering a $50 Visa gift card. The annual cost of membership to the council is $10 and goes to help support base initiatives and functions including enlisted promotion parties. For more information on the 5/6 Alliance, call Tech. Big Sky Resort offering specials to military
Big Sky Resort is offering a spring military appreciation ski/board weekend April 3-5. Ski or snowboard lift tickets are free for military, retired military, Guard/Reserve and civilians who work at Malmstrom. Family member tickets are discounted 50 percent. Outdoor Recreation will offer transportation to and from the resort, provide ski or snowboard equipment, if needed, and make room reservations. Fees for these services vary depending on how many people will stay in each room. Call 731-3263 for complete details.

Thrift Store accepting large items
The Thrift and Consignment Store currently has space for large household items, such as dressers, dining room sets and desks. If you would like to consign or donate items to the store, visit during business hours Tuesdays and Fridays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. All items must be gently used and free of tears, stains or other damage.
