Plastic recycling discontinued
Effective immediately, plastic recycling is discontinued on Malmstrom AFB or through the City of Great Falls. The plastic recycling drop off at the Malmstrom AFB recycling center is closed. The recycling vendor, Big Sky Pipe, notified Malmstrom AFB and City that due to the drastic devaluation of post-consumer plastics, they could no longer recycle plastic.

Free concert at Club
Dave Hannon will perform a free concert at the Grizzly Bend Club in the ballroom March 29 at 7 p.m. His work is a mixture of acoustic, pop and rock. For more information , call 731-4849 or visit www.341fss.com.

Grand re-opening planned at Detour
The Airmen's Center, located in building 650, will hold a grand re-opening celebration to unveil the new look April 2 at 4 p.m. All are invited to help celebrate the new D2R - also renamed by the patrons who frequent it. For more information, call Julie Wiseman at 952-1529.

Not too late to submit application for AETC Special Duty
The Air Education and Training Command special duty briefing team conducted their regularly scheduled visit to Malmstrom March 26. Air Force members who may have missed the team's visit do not have to wait for the next visit to apply for an AETC special duty. For more information about recruiter duty, military training instructor information, military training leader special duty opportunities or technical training instructor duty, contact Master Sgt. Rolling Thunder motorcycle safety event is April 3
The Malmstrom Safety Office will host its annual Rolling Thunder motorcycle safety event April 3 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the base exchange parking lot. This is the chance to find out about the motorcycle safety course, talk to local dealers and ride through the challenge motorcycle course. There will also be motorcycle inspections conducted and a chance to have your bike named the best looking motorcycle in the beauty contest. Scholarship applications being accepted
The Malmstrom Spouses' Club is now accepting applications for fiscal year 2009 scholarships. High school seniors can pick up an application from their guidance counselor and military spouses can pick one up from the Education Center here on base. Applicants must be family members of active-duty or retired military personnel. Applications need to be turned in by March 31. Spring thaw paintball tournament on tap
There will be a spring thaw paintball tournament April 25 at the Malmstrom Paintball Range. Free paint and equipment will be available. Prizes will be awarded and lunch is also provided. Thrift Store accepting large items
The Thrift and Consignment Store is now accepting spring and summer items for consignment. Consignors keep 75 percent of the selling price, and all store profits go towards scholarships for military family members and other MSC welfare projects. Consigned items must be in good condition and free of any stains, tears or other damage. If you would like to consign or donate items to the store, visit during business hours Tuesdays and Fridays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The store is located in building 581 on Goddard Dr. For more information, call the store at 731-3213.
