Library fitness cycle throwdown
National Library Week is April 13 to 17. In honor of it, libraries around the Air Force are holding a fitness throwdown. Ride a stationary bike while either reading a book or listening to one on audio. Participants will receive a gift from the HAWC. Bikes are provided by the Sports and Fitness Center. Call 731-4638 to sign up for a 15 or 30 minute time slot.

Monthly blood drive scheduled
The next American Red Cross Blood Drive at Malmstrom is April 14 from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the lower gym of the Fitness Center. Sign up online at www.givelife.org, sponsor code airforce, or call 727-2212 to make an appointment.

European culture committee to meet
There will be a European Culture Committee meeting April 15 at 3:30 p.m. in the Equal Opportunity classroom, building 770, room 25. Anyone of European descent that would like to share their culture with others is asked to attend. Event planning for a summer activity will take place and ideas are needed and encouraged. AFSA monthly meeting
The Air Force Sergeants Association Chapter 1156 meeting takes place April 15 at 3:30 p.m. in the Grizzly Bend Club meeting room (basement). Discussion includes planning upcoming events, fundraisers, community projects and legislative issues. Being in AFSA is an enlisted person's opportunity to learn more about retirement benefits, being involved in military activities, and learning about protecting Air Force quality-of-life initiatives. 5/6 Alliance meeting

Looking for people interested in American Indian Culture
The American Indian Cultureal Communication Course is a free training designed to help DoD personnel better understand and implement the Department's American Indian and Alaska Native policy. Native specialists in American Indian history, culture and communication along with DoD legal staff will teach the three day course. Anyone interested in taking such a course should contact Lana Hedlund via e-mail by April 20 to let their interest be known. If enough responses are received, the course could come to Malmstrom in the near future. Send replies to lana.hedlund@malmstrom.af.mil.

Communication and you seminar coming April 20
The Airman and Family Readiness Center staff will host a fun, relaxing workshop that teaches how to get needs met, raise self-esteem and express what you mean. Learn about your communication style. The event is free and open to everyone, April 20 from 9 a.m. to noon. Call 731-4900 for a reservation.

Wild West membership night planned
There will be a Wild West membership night at the Grizzly Bend Club April 24. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and one lucky winner will receive a 1995 Ford Truck. Call the club at 731-3359 for more information.

Earth Day 2009 is coming
The annual Earth Day celebration is April 25 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Montana State University College of Technology campus. There will be children's games, informational booths, a hybrid vehicle display, energy conservation information, recycling information, student poster contest winners will be announced and more. Spring thaw paintball tournament on tap
There will be a spring thaw paintball tournament April 25 at the Malmstrom Paintball Range. Free paint and equipment will be available. Prizes will be awarded and lunch is also provided. Participants must be at least 16 years old; five players per team. For more information or to register, contact Outdoor Recreation at 731-3263.

MApril cleanup volunteers needed
MApril cleanup is a joint venture between Malmstrom, Neighborhood Works, the Chamber of Commerce, Montana Waste Systems and High Plains Sanitary Landfill to clean the city of Great Falls. This year, the event is scheduled for April 25 and May 2 from 8 a.m. to noon. Volunteers are needed to help with trash pickup and removal. Crew sizes vary from five to 30 people along 1-mile routes. Last year, more than 400 people volunteered from Malmstrom. Anyone interested in helping this year can sign up on the Malmstrom 10-day share drive, the folder named MApril, or for retirees or family members who don't have access to the share drive, call Master Sgt.
