The Malmstrom post office acquired a new postal contract April 1, and along with the new contract came new equipment.

The new equipment and system provides enhanced technology, security, transaction streamlining and automated options to ensure customers are provided the services they need, said contract owner, Barb Overton.

"We are very excited to be here and the people have been wonderful," she said. "I feel like I've really bonded with the community."

The new contractors are committed to providing excellent service to Malmstrom personnel and their families, and since the two weeks they've been in business on base, they appreciate the patience and understanding of the customers as they become acquainted with the new equipment and processes.

"Many [customers] are intrigued by the new display screen," Ms. Overton said. "They can see what's happening with their transactions and I have heard many positive comments."

The base post office hours have increased service to Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. They are no longer closed for lunch.
Ms. Overton said the morning hours are normally the quietest and the busiest times are from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., and about 4 p.m. on week days.
