Schedule of events for retirees weekend outlined

The following events and activities are being offered for Retiree's Appreciation Weekend April 24 and 25 as indicated below.

Friday: 8 a.m. - 3 p.m. Malmstrom Clinic offers the following services:
- Blood pressure screenings
- Audiograms
- Pharmacy services
- Laboratory services (cholesterol and glucose screenings)
- Immunizations (tetanus and flu shots - please bring your immunization records)
- Dental exams, oral cancer screenings and X-rays if necessary (first-come, first-served basis)
- Vision testing and glaucoma screenings
- Mammogram referrals
- Osteoporosis
- Other cancer screenings

Friday: 4 p.m. - Formal retreat ceremony at Medal of Honor Park (inclement weather site is the base theater). Retirees should be in uniform if they want to participate in the ceremony.

Friday: Following Retreat - Social hour at the Grizzly Bend Club for retirees and their family members.

Saturday: 7 - 11 a.m. - Malmstrom Clinic offers the following services:

Free refreshments along with informational brochures on various health-care issues such as smoking cessation, aging, injury prevention, nutrition and TRICARE will be available throughout the clinic.

Saturday: 7 a.m. - noon. Military Personnel Section opens for ID card renewals.

Saturday: 7 a.m. - Commissary opens. Beginning at 9 a.m., complimentary refreshments will be offered.

Saturday: 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. -Brunch is served at the Elkhorn Diner (33 percent surcharge applies)

Saturday: 9 a.m. - Base Exchange opens. Refreshments will be offered at the main entrance.

Saturday: 10 a.m. - Malmstrom museum opens.

Saturday: 1 p.m. - "Programs for Retirees" briefing with guest speakers from various agencies such as casualty assistance, legal, Social Security and Veterans Affairs to address issues and answer questions. Held at the chapel annex.

Saturday: 5:30 p.m. - Retiree Appreciation Dinner, Grizzly Bend Club featuring guest speaker Col. Michael Fortney, Commander, 341st Missile Wing. Entertainment will be provided by the Malmstrom Men's Ensemble. Reservations are required.

Sunday: 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. - Brunch is served at the Elkhorn Diner (33 percent surcharge applies)

Sunday: 9 a.m. - Base exchange opens

Sunday: 9:30 a.m. - Catholic Services, base chapel

Sunday: 10 a.m. - Commissary opens

Sunday: 11:15 a.m. - Protestant Worship Services, base chapel

Don't forget to bring along your old, unwanted cell phones and donate them to the Cell Phones for Soldiers program, spearheaded by members of the Montana Retirees Council at Malmstrom. Drop boxes are located in the main entrance area at the Commissary and in the main lobby of the clinic.

Anyone interested in joining the Montana Retirees Council is invited to attend a monthly meeting, held every second Thursday of the month at 11:30 a.m. at the Elkhorn Diner. Or you can call current direct, retired Col. Milt Feltch at 731-4751. Please leave a message if no one answers.
