May is Military Appreciation Month and May 16 is Armed Forces Day. A great way to celebrate is to attend the Darryl Worley concert at the Lewis & Clark County Fairgrounds in Helena on May 15. The Cold Hard Cash Show, a tribute to Johnny Cash, is opening the concert that starts at 7 p.m.

Darryl has visited with and entertained troops in Afghanistan, Kuwait and Uzbekistan. Two of his most popular songs are "Have You Forgotten" and "I Just Came Back From a War." He has historically been involved with the annual American Freedom Festival in Washington, D.C., which raises funds for veterans. For more information about Darryl and to purchase tickets, go to www.lccfairgrounds.com

The military is being offered a discount on tickets. Online, click on Tickets on the left side of the Fairgrounds site. Then Buy Tickets under Darryl Worley. In the password box, type USA, and then click Unlock, and proceed to purchase tickets. At the gate, show a military ID.

Montana Supporting Soldiers is helping to promote this as a military appreciation event. The Shining Thistle Pipe Band will perform as an Honor Guard posts the colors before the concert begins. Miss Rodeo Montana will give a special presentation, and will be signing autographs. There will be a table with information for supporting our troops, military family assistance, and understanding PTSD and Traumatic Brain Injuries. People can write notes that will be sent to troops.

There will be a collection box by the door for care package items that people can bring to the concert. A few items troops need are powdered drink mix, beef jerky, crew socks, granola bars, dried fruit, mixed nuts, chap stick, word puzzle books, stick deodorant and flip flops (for shower shoes).

This is a great opportunity for patriotic Montanans, servicemembers, military families, veterans, and their friends to get together to celebrate our military and enjoy an awesome concert.
