Information Assurance 101
Wesley Speth, 341st Missile Wing information assurance analyst, gets ready to drop a piece of a cell phone into a disintegrator. The phone was destroyed because it was used improperly. According to Air Force Systems Security Instruction 8502, the use of privately-owned information systems to process or store critical unclassified information and personally identifiable information is not allowed. Privately-owned information systems contaminated with these types of information will be confiscated and sanitized according to directives. In this case, the only means of sanitation was destruction.
